Ordering & Lead Times

Are these knives really handmade?

Yes. Every knife is forged by hand by Jason Lowe in Jonesborough, Tennessee. Nothing here is mass-produced or outsourced.

How long will it take to get my knife?

Since most pieces are forged after you order, current lead time runs about 2 to 4 weeks before your order ships, plus transit time. If a piece is already finished and ready to ship, we'll say so on the listing or in your confirmation email. See our Shipping Policy for full details.

Can I request a custom knife?

Often, yes. If you'd like a different handle material, blade length, or sheath style than what's listed, email us at tavernhillblades@yahoo.com with what you have in mind and we'll let you know if it's possible and what it would cost.

An item I want is out of stock. Can you make another one?

Usually. Many of our designs can be forged on request even when marked out of stock. Email us and we'll give you a timeline.

Materials & Craftsmanship

What steel do you use?

Most knives are forged from 80CRV2, 5160, or 8670 high carbon steel. Some pieces are hand-forged Damascus. The specific steel is always listed in the product description.

Why does the exact piece I receive look slightly different from the photo?

Because every knife is hand-forged one at a time, and handles are often made from natural materials like stabilized wood, antler, or horn, no two pieces are perfectly identical. Small variation in grain, color, or finish is part of owning something handmade, not a flaw.

Does the knife come with a sheath?

Yes, each knife ships with a kydex or leather sheath as noted in the product listing.

How do I take care of a carbon steel blade?

High carbon steel holds a great edge but will rust if neglected. Wipe the blade dry after use, keep it lightly oiled (mineral oil or a dedicated knife oil works well), and avoid storing it in a damp sheath for long periods. A little patina developing over time is normal and doesn't affect performance.

Shipping & Legal

Do you ship outside the United States?

Yes. International buyers are responsible for any customs duties or import taxes charged by their own country, and for confirming the knife they're ordering can legally be imported there. See our Shipping Policy for details.

Is it legal for me to own this knife?

Knife laws vary by state, county, and country, and they change over time. We're not able to give legal advice, so please check the current laws where you live before ordering, especially for fixed-blade hunting knives, daggers, or tomahawks. You must be at least 18 years old to purchase from us.

How do I track my order?

You'll get a shipping confirmation email with tracking information the day your knife ships.

Returns & Payment

What's your return policy?

Because each knife is made to order, we can't accept returns for a change of mind once forging has started. Genuine defects or shipping damage are covered if reported within 7 days of delivery. Full details are in our Refund Policy.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards through our secure checkout. Any additional payment options will be shown at checkout.
